The award-winning open-top hop-on hop-off bus tour lasts around 1 hour and takes in the city’s famous sights, including Oxford Castle, Christ Church, Magdalen Bridge, Sheldonian Theatre, and Ashmolean Museum. With commentary in 14 languages and a single route with 18 bus stops, you can discover Oxford at your leisure.
For younger visitors, City Sightseeing Oxford have Mia Cloo’s Oxford Quest. A fun and educational adventure for kids, this part of the tour comes at no extra cost and includes special commentary, workbooks and a prize. Plus, they also regularly host special seasonal events to keep the kids entertained while you’re visiting Oxford, such as the Bunny Hop Trail, Oxford Explorer’s Passport Trail and the Elf Trail. All official guided walking tours are quality assessed and provided by highly trained, knowledgeable and experienced guides to ensure you fully enjoy your time in Oxford.
Additionally, City Sightseeing Oxford oversee Carfax Tower in the city centre. This 74-foot tower is all that remains of the 12th century St Martin’s Church after the main part was demolished to make more room for traffic in 1896. Those who climb its 99 steps will be rewarded with an amazing panoramic view over the Oxford skyline!
About the tour buses
Tour buses seat 78 (49 upstairs and 29 downstairs). They are all wheelchair accessible and they offer half-covered upper decks to guard against the traditional British weather!
Additionally, open-topped buses can be hired for private tours of Oxford (on the regular route) or for use at weddings, sports meetings and other special events. See the private hire page for more information.
How to buy your tickets
Tickets can be purchased both online and in person (from bus drivers, the High Street Visitor Information Point, the Gloucester Green Travel Shop and various other locations in the city) for either 24 or 48 hour periods. Concessions are available for students, seniors and families (two adult and three children). City Sightseeing Oxford also offer special discounts for groups of ten or more (please ask), plus special combined attraction & tour tickets.
All tour tickets entitle the holder to “hop on – hop off” tour buses as desired (during the 24 or 48 hour period of validity purchased).
Dog-Friendly Travel
All well-behaved dogs are welcome on City Sightseeing Oxford buses (including assistance dogs, of course) as well as walking tours – completely free of charge.
